Hollywood Origins (part 1)

Where did the name "Hollywood" come from? Well, it was actually assigned to me (Dad) by "Gentleman Jim," the impresario of nearly a dozen "World Series of Poker" tournaments over the years (although it's been a couple years since he last hosted one to the disappointment of many). In any event, it was Gentleman Jim who dubbed "Hollywood" as my handle - probably because of my affinity for cheap video productions and the like over the years since we have been friends. As they say in Hollywood ... the rest is history! As a tribute to Jim's contribution to the Hollywood Four, here are a few video highlights from his Fall 2003 poker tournament.

Hollywood Origins (part 2)

As a follow-up to the video posted above, here is a few highlights from the "mockumentary" that preceeded the tournament above and contributed even further to the legend that is Hollywood.

Fall 2003; Starring Hollywood (Scott) and OJ (Andy)

Cosi Spiral

This is a short little video of a cool spiral at the Cosi Columbus, OH museum. Watch the clip and stare at the middle of the spiral. When the video is done, look at something else nearby for a groovy effect.

Mr. Roboto

This video has a number of background effects going. First, Andrew and I stop-motion animated a few of his lego robot toys. Then we dropped in a nifty background and a crazy kid head. The end result is Mr. Roboto.

Spring 2005; Starring Andrew

Superandrew

Just got back in town from a business trip. So here is a quick post of a Hollywood Four classic. This is a very tired and sneezy "Superandrew."

November 2004; Starring Andrew

Ucalalie Girl

If you enjoyed Abby's (I mean Angie's) peformance in our American Idol video this weekend - then here is a little bonus footage of Abby performing on her ucalalie (given to her by Grandpa Jack; finely tuned by Grandpa Dick). Caution: Turn the volume down on your computer or else the neighborhood dogs might start howling!

January 2008; Starring Abby

Yellow Polka Dot Bikini

Continuing the theme from yesterday's "Wipe Out" video, here is another warm weather-inspired clip.

Fall 2005; Starring Abby, Andrew and Myranda

Wipe Out

As I sit here with my sore, aching back after having shoveled two feet of snow down my entire driveway - I am dreaming of the warmer, summer days ahead. This little clip helps warm the soul with some surfin' fun. This video was taken at Avalanche Bay at the Boyne Mountain Resort in Petoskey, MI.

August 2006; Starring Abby and Andrew
