Belt Testing

This Wednesday, Andrew tested for his first (yellow) stripe on his black belt. The testing was pretty much as it was in the past: Exercises, Forms, Sparring, and Board Breaking. Here are the highlights.

Black Belt Testing (part 1)

Andrew completed his official Black Belt testing for Taekwondo on Saturday. While we won't officially know if he earned his Black Belt for another 10 days, we feel pretty confident based on his performance. The next three days I will post the three key areas of his testing. Today we start with his forms (also called patterns).

Black Belt Training

Andrew is in the final training stages for his Black belt testing. As part of his training, this weekend he had to run 1 mile, clean the Master's studio (wax-on, wax-off) and practice his board-breaking skills (among other thinks). Here are a few highlights that Karen was able to film. Final testing is September 6.

I was a little "board" and running short on material to post so I thought I would upload a few of Andrew's board breaks. These were all performed as part of standard belt testing for Taekwondo. This one was for a blue belt.

Nunchuck Boy

Here is another short clip that Andrew filmed in our basement this weekend. He is learning how to use nunchucks (or nunchaka) in Taekwondoe. I thought this clip was sort of cool so I dropped a little Enter The Dragon soundtrack in the background and posted it to our blog.

Fists of Fury

We'll take a break from Office Lessons posts to share some highlight footage of Andrew at his martial arts competition today. He participated in three taekwondo competitions: Forms, Sparring and Board-Breaking. Even though there were no gold medals today -- he definitely brought the fury!
